Some sewer lines fail all at once. This one failed in two very different, very quiet ways, neither of which had produced a backup yet at the time of inspection. That is exactly why a full camera run in both directions from the cleanout matters, rather than stopping the moment the first section looks clear.

This report covers a sewer camera inspection performed at a property near Belmont Avenue in Dallas, Texas, dated 08/08/2026. The inspection was run from the rear cleanout in two directions: one toward the city tap, and one back under the property.

The second camera run headed from the same rear cleanout back under the property. This section began as cast iron and included an approximately four-and-one-half to five-foot section that was completely underwater, consistent with a belly, or low section, in the line.

Past the belly, the line transitioned to newer PVC that appeared to be in good condition, with properly made visible joints and welds at the time of inspection.

A small residual film of water at the base of a properly sloped pipe can be normal. A section completely underwater across the full pipe area is a different situation entirely, and it is exactly what this camera run found.

Why the Belly Section Matters: Back Pressure Explained

A sewer line is designed to drain by gravity, moving wastewater downstream toward the city tap. A belly or low section breaks that design by trapping water instead of letting it fully drain.
