If a buyer is arranging both a home inspection and a sewer inspection, start by confirming each provider’s scope. Then coordinate access and the order of testing. Two appointments on the same calendar do not automatically mean the services are included together or can run at the same time.
First, find out whether a sewer scope is already included
Texas’s minimum home-inspection standards do not require cameras to inspect the interior of a sewer or drain line. Qualified inspectors may offer additional services, so ask the home inspector what the buyer has actually booked. The distinction appears in TREC’s Standards of Practice, Section 535.227(a)(3)–(4).
National inspection provider Pillar To Post also describes sewer scoping as an additional service. The practical lesson is to confirm the order, not assume that the name of an inspection package tells you everything it includes.
Share a short coordination note with both providers
Once the buyer selects the services, give the providers the appointment windows, access contact and any known concerns relevant to their work. Ask them to confirm whether overlapping visits are workable. Let the people performing the tests determine the sequence.
This matters especially when the sewer visit includes additional pressure testing. Tell the home inspector what testing is planned and ask both providers to coordinate water use or other activities that might need to be sequenced. Do not improvise test instructions or promise that every test can happen simultaneously.
Make the optional plumbing scope explicit

Keep reports separate, then connect the questions
Our certified Master Plumber report and narrated high-definition videos are prepared, uploaded and delivered the same day as the inspection. Confirm the home inspector’s delivery arrangements separately.
When reviewing both reports, note the specific observation, the provider who made it, any stated limitation and the recommended next step. If one report raises a question about an area outside its scope, ask the relevant provider to explain what was evaluated. Do not treat silence in one report as confirmation that another concern has been resolved.
A practical handoff for DFW agents
Before the visit, confirm access and requested services. After delivery, help the buyer gather specific questions and request further evaluation or an estimate where appropriate. Keep transaction decisions with the buyer and their advisers.
